Mindfulness

 Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

 What do you see that makes you happy?  Do you have a special photo of someone you look up to that makes you happy every time you look at it? Is there a movie you like to watch that always makes you laugh? A funny quote or joke that gets you every time? Those are the moments we can use to fill our happy tanks today!

I was on a call this morning with my accountability teammates and we always do an awareness exercise first to bring perspective to our lives. Today was about how small we are in the universe and in our world.  We are just one person of many.  We can be individuals doing only things for ourselves or we can bring ourselves outward into the community working as a team and make a difference.  We also spoke about individual legacies and what each of us would leave behind. What would you leave behind? How would you be remembered?  Instantly I thought of a quote I once read and it has to do with your smile. J

“Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others after an experience with you becomes your trademark.”  This reminds me of how important our impact on those around us really is.  And it all starts with our LOGO, our smile!  Wouldn’t that be cool if our logos were our individual smiles? Maybe we should start a trend!

Our smile is one of those little tokens we can give away and make a difference with every person we meet every day.  Smiling is free for us and it is a gift to those around us.  Show your happy today so you can continue spreading it to others.  And when you get a smile back, you can put that in your pocket and have it for the rest of your life.

Find something to smile about, something that brings light into your life.  It could be your child, significant other, a beloved pet, or someone famous that brings you joy. Perhaps it’s thinking about a special place or fun activity – whatever makes you smile.

Simply print out a photo and put it somewhere you can see it every day, then smile away!
